सौर मंडल - Saura Mandala
सौर मंडल - Saura Mandala is a hyperactive experimental project that began with Daniel Davis in 2013. Working an office job for the first time, I found myself getting lost in online instruments - digital synths, loopers, and noisemakers that didn't exist outside of your web browser. I was also discovering the joy of not writing music, but still creating it - I would improvise everything, edit nothing, and release everything that I recorded. The original idea behind सौर मंडल - Saura Mandala was that there would be a fake mystery around who was actually creating and releasing all the music. I didn't put my name on any of the releases, hoping that maybe they'd catch on and it would be a lot of fun to watch people wonder (kinda like a Madlib/Lord Quas thing, but lamer and easier to figure out). Either way, SM became an outlet for the most uncontrolled and unplanned recordings I've ever done, and forced me to create a visual aesthetic to match music I could barely be said to have composed. It's the most active project I've ever done, and it's involved collaborations with both Frank Bravo (Bellafonte, Fairness, Dreamverb) and Matthew Zardoz (Domestic Drone, Money Badger, Blood Tide), the latter becoming a permanent member in 2018.
सौर मंडल - Saura Mandala is completely out of control and will never stop releasing music as long as TAHRC operates. Below is a complete list of the TAHRC-000 releases that सौर मंडल - Saura Mandala has put out. Most are sold out, but expect to find more music in physical format soon.
