Let's Drown Each Other
Let's Drown Each Other is one of the earliest recorded projects from Matthew Davis (TAHRC founder Daniel Davis' older brother and major influence in the Wichita DIY scene from 1999 - 2003). It was self-recorded on a 4 track recorder with one microphone, and was self-released originally as a demo to accompany live performances. Matthew's songwriting abilities were astonishing even at the age of 19 - his voice was earnest, and there is real, simple power in this recording. Davis was well-known for his part in several influential Midwestern hardcore bands (Brazil and Ten Grand / The Vidablue being the most notable), and this is a rare look into a completely different style of songwriting - Davis' voice seems almost brittle compared to his commanding vocals in Ten Grand, but the power and honestly behind this recording shines through just the same. This cassette was originally reissued through TAHRC as a means of raising funds for an 2x LP project to celebrate the life and music of Matthew Davis. While we worked hard to achieve this goal, we ended up only making enough money to keep this cassette in print for the last 6 years. Another run of the physical cassettes will be available via TAHRC's merch store in April 2020.
