New music today comes from Jon Burns and his long running solo project CENTAUR NOIR out of Moline, IL in the Quad Cities. I’ve known Jon for many years because of his previous band (legendary Iowa noise punks METH AND GOATS), and because of his enormous output as a visual artist. Although I haven’t seen Jon in many years, we’ve been able to stay connected through mutual friends (he directed the FLAMEKEEPER video for our homie RAW SPACE), and over the last year we’ve talked on and off about gettting a release together. I’m really pleased to see this come to life, and even more pleased to add CENTAUR NOIR to the TAHRC roster – there’s really no one else on the label who is his match.
There are so many different elements that go into this CENTAUR NOIR album – listening to it brings to mind THE MAKE-UP, PRINCE, HAR MAR SUPERSTAR, and weirder poppy stuff like PULSARS and THE RENTALS, but there’s a whole energy and sound strung through all those different thread that is wholly original. It’s a real honor to have the opportunity to release some music for a artist who I’ve gotten to look up to, and to see change over the years. We’re making the cassette version of this release available for preorder and download today, you can click HERE to grab a copy for yourself, or you can head over to our BANDCAMP and download the jams. And if you know what’s up, you’ll go ahead and stream the whole album below via Soundcloud:
